The zienda
PODERE CASCINA lies on a range of hills rising from the Tyrrhenian Sea, 3km north of the famous Bolgheri, surrounded by manors with such great names as Antinori, Frescobaldi, Gaia etc. The climate here is mild, just how the vines and olives like it.
The owners, Rita and Silvio Streun, settled down here in 1989 after a few stays abroad. In 2005, Rita, who had previously been a dance teacher, graduated in oenology from the UAS Changins (Switzerland). She immediately set about improving the manor. Vineyards replaced old olive groves and meadows.
Currently she cultivates 3 ha of vineyards and 6 ha of olives as well as about 2 ha forest. For this region, this is a very small vinery estate. With systematic and professional assistance in the vineyard and cellar, Rita produces wines of high quality.Since 2010, the grapes have been able to develop in the new cellar with its modern facilities. There, the emotions of dance can be felt. In a “pas-de-deux”, science and nature are united to a noble drop.
